I am an official member of the online baking group: The Cake Slicers. I have been fascinated with his online baking group, after seeing fellow blogger Kelly Jane  who would post her monthly bakes from last years selected book: The Cake Book by Tish Boyle.  The orgainsers of this fabulous online cake group are Katie who blogs at  Apple and Spice  and Paloma who blogs at  The Coffee Shop  and were kind enough hold o mat to have me on board this year and I have joined as a new member. This year The Cake Slicers are cooking from "Vintage Cakes"(timeless recipes for Cupcakes, hold o mat Flips, Rolls, Layer, Angel, Bundt, Chiffon, and Icebox Cakes for Today's Sweet Tooth) by Julie Richardson. Vintage cakes is easily available from Amazon, and I must say this is one of the BEST cake books I have seen. It is also my first American baking hold o mat book, and I am amazed how succulent, tempting these rustic cakes are. Each month fellow bakers vote on the dish that they want to bake and the cake with the ost number of votes wins. The first bake from this book is the Shoo Fly Cake: a simple molasses spice cake that is from the authors great grandmothers recipe collection hold o mat born in 1895. I did not vote to bake for this cake, but I am pleased that it was chosen as it was nothing I have ever tasted before. The spices really came through in this cake, and reminded me of my nan's West Indian cake. Here is how my Shoo Fly Cake turned out: Shoo fly cake. A crumble mixture was sprinkled on the top, as according to the recipe. Although I will be quite surprised if other bakers cake turned out like this, as they are more experienced bakers, and their cake probably will look a 1,000 times better. Shoo fly cake before cut I had a slice of my Shoo Fly cake with a dollop of rum and raisin ice cream- this really intensified hold o mat the spices in the cake. Yum! Shoo fly cake and rum and raisin ice-cream. I started by making the crumble mixture for the topping by combining the butter and plain flour into breadcrumbs and placed in the freezer. Crumble mixture I then creamed the butter and sugar together and then added treacle and in-cooperated the dry ingredients hold o mat with the coffee. Creamed sugar and butter Weighed treacle. I added the dry ingredients alongside the eggs and black coffee. Dry ingredients Black coffee Mixture. I then spread the mixture in a 9 inch, loose bottomed tin. Mixture incooperated Cake mixture in the tin. After around 45 minutes the Shoo Fly cake was baked and was absolutely delish! Baked cake. Click in The Legend Reborn
Click was part of a group of Scarabax Beetles that approached the crater formed by the impact of the Kanohi Ignika. The Mask of Life began forming a body for Mata Nui , frightening the other beetles off. Click remained behind, and approached the newly created body. After almost being stepped on, Click climbed on to Mata Nui's shoulder and touched the Ignika, becoming mixing equipment his living Scarab Shield. Mata Nui used the Scarab Shield to defend mixing equipment himself against an attacking Vorox . The Shield was then transformed back into beetle form by the Ignika. mixing equipment Mata Nui attempted to let Click go, but Click refused, and crawled back up to Mata Nui's shoulder. mixing equipment
Metus , who arrived shortly after, attempted to knock Click off Mata Nui's shoulder as a courtesy, but Mata Nui prevented him from doing so. Click accompanied Mata Nui to Vulcanus , where Mata Nui had Click transform into a shield in order to defend the Glatorian Ackar . Ackar was similarly confused by Mata Nui's choice of a companion, but eventually ignored it. When Kiina arrived, she mocked Mata Nui by asking if he called the bug "Click." Mata Nui, however, decided he liked the name, and began referring to the beetle as such.
During mixing equipment the group's travels to Tajun through Sandray Canyon , they encountered Bone Hunters and a Skopio , and Click became a shield to help Mata Nui in the battle. After creating a rockslide that buried the Skopio, Mata Nui used the Scarab Shield as a surfboard to travel down the mountain and reunite with his allies.
While traveling to Tesara , Ackar used a pause in their travels to teach Mata Nui fighting techniques. His sneak attack on Mata Nui dislodged the Scarabax, who landed on Kiina. The Water Glatorian disliked the Scarabax, mixing equipment and warned the bug that she was not afraid to punish it if it bit her.
Mata Nui later used the Scarab Shield in his fight against Tuma , which he won. In order to save the Scarabax Beetle from the impending Skrall army, Mata Nui let Click go. Click contacted his fellow Scarabax, and they came together to form a massive being, which managed to frighten the Skrall. Click returned to Mata Nui, helped by Kiina, mixing equipment and became the Scarab Shield. Mata Nui used the shield mixing equipment in the ensuing battle , which the Glatorian eventually won.
As Mata Nui and his allies worked to free a trapped Thornatus, Click discovered the transformed snake-like Metus, who was attempting to enact his revenge by pushing a boulder onto them. Metus gave chase to the beetle, mixing equipment eventually cornering it, but Click called for many of his ally Scarabax, who worked together to dispatch the snake.
Later, after the villages of Bara Magna joined together and Mata Nui declared his intention to follow a map shown on the insignia of the Skrall warriors, Click traveled with him towards the Valley of the Maze . Initially accompanied by Ackar, mixing equipment Kiina, Berix, and Gresh , the pair were forced to continue alone after Berix was injured mixing equipment by a wandering band of Skrall.
Click went with Mata Nui into the Great Volcano , and voiced his concern about the location. Later, when Mata Nui was about to power the Prototype Robot , he gave Click to Kiina for safekeeping. Abilities and Traits
Click is curious and brave, willing to approach the Ignika after his pack had fled. Like other Scarabax Beetles, Click does not have any natural mixing equipment powers of his own. However, after touching the Kanohi Ignika, Click gained the ability to transform between his beetle form and Mata Nui's Scarab Shield, while remaining conscious throughout both forms.
The Scarab Shield contains Click's eye, allowing him to observe his surroundings. The process of the transformation also eliminates Click's nervous system, and he does not feel the blows the shield suffers. Example Usage

His transformed state, the Scarab Shield, consisted of two pieces and was included in the Mata Nui canister set of 2009. Green Kitchen Stories » Mint & Mango Marinated Zucchini Spaghetti
It has been awfully quiet around here lately. We are sorry about that. The reason for the silence is that our life outside the blog has been very hectic, but also lots of fun. Here is a short recap on what we have been up to, instead of serving new recipes for you.
First of all. We have started working together with two computer geniuses, mincer on a project that hopefully will result in the Green Kitchen Cooking mincer App for iPad! Pretty cool, huh!? It will take at least a couple of months before we are ready, but the plan is that we will create the best vegetarian-cooking app out there. It will feature some of our old favorite recipes, and some new and exclusive for the app. More on that as the project develops.
Last but not least, we took a road trip to Denmark to visit Luise s family. It is normally a 5 hour drive from Stockholm to Copenhagen, but with Elsa it took 10 hours. She is not too comfortable in the car these days, so we made a lot of stops at different places: a big playground, a moose park (yes moose !), an incredible mincer flea market and a beautiful view. Nothing compares to Big Sur , but Sweden can be pretty beautiful too.
In Denmark we had 5 days of summer weather, barbecuing, friends and family. We visited the Aarstiderne Country mincer Market , had dinner at Copenhagen s new Raw food café Simple Raw and picked spring flowers. It was the perfect start of the summer.
At the Raw food café we tried a delicious zucchini spaghetti. The raw food version of zucchini spaghetti is very different than the classic Italian version, since the zucchini actually is the spaghetti. We have been making this type of zucchini spaghetti a lot since we brought a julienne peeler with us home from Thailand. And after our visit at the cafe we were reminded how perfect it would be on the blog.
So here we have created something that reminds of a delicious creamy Italian pasta, without using neither cream nor pasta. It has got a fresh fruity flavor and takes only a few minutes to make. Who said vegetarian/vegan/raw food was difficult? It can’t be much simpler than this!
When we were in Thailand we bought a julienne like slicer. They use it for green mango salad but it works just as perfect for slicing a zucchini. You can find similar slicers on Amazon or try julienne’s big brother, the vegetable spiral slicer .
Mint & Mango Sauce 1 mango medium size 4 tbsp olive oil (add more if you like) 15 leaves fresh mint 1 inch fresh red chili 2 inches fresh ginger a pinch of salt & pepper a handful of green pea sprouts and pistachio nuts, for garnish mincer
Peel and remove the stone from the mango, add all ingredients in a mixer and mix until smooth. Pour the mango mint marinade over the zucchini mincer spaghetti and work it in by hand. Arrange the spaghetti on the plates and garnish with sprouts and chopped pistachio nuts.

How exciting with your new projects and the app sounds like a brilliant idea! Your raw spaghetti sounds mincer so delicious and I can’t wait to try it. The combo of mango, fresh ginger and mint is music to my ears. By the way, I made the Pretty Purple mincer Picnic Wraps a few days ago and OMG! Amazing goodness. :)

I’ve been seeing the idea of zucchini as a replacement for pasta in several cookbooks. But this definitely looks like the most delish recipe. The mango and mint combo is brilliant! Cannot wait to try it!
I made this for lunch today (after rollerblading to the Co-op for pea shoots and pistachios) and it was delicious! I’ve been really into mango dressings and sauces ever since I made this recipe: http://tastespace.wordpress.com/2011/05/05/chickpea-salad-with-mexican-mango-dressing/ but the ginger gave this sauce a terrific kick. I think this would also be a great dipping sauce for spring rolls or dressing for a Thai noodle salad.
Love the sound of this dish! So summery and fresh. I have nothing that resembles a julienne peeler or a spiralizer so I’d probably go the “slaw” route with this one when I decide to make it (as soon as the garden zucchini is ready!)
Beautiful! Sounds like a perfect way to start off the summer. The winter is finally melting away here in Colorado, ready to hit the farmers markets. They just come a little late here but last on into october. I am excited about the app that you are working on-very modern!
