- You teach radio interview and - something new - stereotypes in journalism. A subject you specialize in with their own quantitative and qualitative studies. Why is it so important?
New and new, I have, one way or another taught stereotypes in some years now, but yes, I think it's important that especially journalists are aware of stereotypes and their own preconceived notions. I think we often think we know how people think, live and priority without actually doing it. And when we report on the basis of assumptions, we come easily to draw a distorted picture. An example from the other day: A few students would in an essay on Danes visit a sex shop. The same idea was another student in a previous workshop. In the shop, they were quite surprised to encounter an immigrant woman with a headscarf. The proprietor of the shop could tell you that many of the customers were actually Arab women who follow the Quran is entitled to a rich sex life!
Are they? I think they are very different. If I do have to mention something, I think that they are quick to get out of the starting blocks when there will be manufactured journalism and reluctance to take the time to read and understand academic texts. A little restless and impatient.
