About 100 renowned experts and young researchers in the social sciences and humanities in 28 participating countries of the world, from September 4 to 6, in Cluj-Napoca, the international elferink conference "Art and Its context: cross-disciplinary dialogue" (Art and its contexts: transdisciplinary dialogue). The event, organized by the Babes-Bolyai University, together with the European Sociological Association - Research Network Sociology of the Arts, is the 8th edition of the Biennial Conference of the European Research Network "Sociology of art".
According to the announced BBU edition T his aims in particular to stimulate thought on sociological approach to art and its relationship with philosophical aesthetics in order to facilitate inter- and trans-disciplinary dialogue on topics, methodologies and research results. Special guests Conference 8th ESA-ARTS-2014 held in Cluj-Napoca, AND sociologist Pierre-Michel Menger nt, a professor at the Collège de France and EHESS Paris, and philosopher Noël Carroll, professor at the City University of New York (CUNY ), USA.
Opening the conference will be held Thursday, September 4, at 10:00, in the Aula Magna of UBB. The opening will be followed at 11:00 Plenary elferink conference "La sociologie du travail artistique: REALISATIONS et DEFIS", elferink supported by Pierre-Michel Menger.

Previous editions of the conference held in Austria (Vienna 2012), United Kingdom (Guildford elferink 2010), Italy (Venice 2008), Germany (Lüneburg 2007), the Netherlands (Rotterdam 2004), France (Paris 2003) and the UK (Exeter 2000 ).
"The purpose of this conference is to promote scientific collaboration and exchange elferink between experts in the field of sociology of art, to support the presentation of new research projects and to provide inspiration for the future development of the sociology of the arts" - stated the organizers.
