UBB hosts 8th International Conference ESA-ARTS -2014 "Art and Its Contexts: cross-disciplinary dialogue", 4 to 6 September 2014
Babes-Bolyai University, together with the European Sociological Association Sociology of the Arts -Research compact juicer Network organizes 4 to 6 September 2014 during the international conference "Art and Its context: cross-disciplinary dialogue" compact juicer (Art and its contexts: compact juicer transdisciplinary dialogue).
The conference is the 8th edition of the Biennial Conference of the European Research Network "sociology of the arts" and brings together compact juicer 100 renowned experts and young researchers in the social sciences and humanities in 28 countries.
This edition aims in particular to stimulate thought on sociological approach to art and its relationship with philosophical aesthetics in order to facilitate inter- compact juicer and trans-disciplinary dialogue on topics, methodologies and research results. Special guests Conference 8th ESA-ARTS-2014 held in Cluj-Napoca are two researchers renowned sociologist Pierre-Michel Menger, Professor at the Collège de France and EHESS Paris, and philosopher Noël Carroll, professor at the City University of New York (CUNY ), USA.
Opening the conference will take place on September compact juicer 4 at 10.00 in Aula Magna of UBB, which will hold speeches: Acad. Prof. Dr. dr. Ioan-Aurel Pop (Rector UBB), Emil Boc, mayor of Cluj-Napoca, Benoît Bavouset, compact juicer director of the French Institute in Cluj-Napoca, and prof. dr. dr. Dan Eugen Ratiu (conference organizer). The opening compact juicer will be followed at 11.00 by the plenary conference "La sociologie du travail artistique: REALISATIONS et DEFIS", supported by Pierre-Michel Menger.
Two events of the conference are freely accessible to the public: meeting and discussion with Pierre-Michel Menger (in French) at the French Institute Mediatheque, 4 September at 18 o'clock, and the session "Author Meets Critics: Noël Carroll '( in English) at the American Corner, County Library "Octavian Goga" Cluj, September 5 at 16:30. These events are organized by the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and the French Institute or UBB and County Library "Octavian Goga" Cluj - American Corner in partnership compact juicer with the US Embassy in Romania, the project S-RO100-14- GR-052.
